Tooway Satellite Ku Traffic Usage & Fair Access Policy Explained
Digiweb Tooway Satellite- Fair Access Policy
Please note this article is only relevant for Satellite Broadband Customer's on Tooway Value, Tooway Plus, Tooway Extra & Tooway Pro.
Digiweb Tooway service is graded into four different packages: Value, Plus, Extra and Pro, with a Fair Access Policy designed to ensure that exceptional usage by a few customers does not negatively impact on the normal usage of other customers.
Each package offers an agreed monthly traffic usage which is implemented on a rolling four weekly period. I.e. Traffic used within past four weeks must not exceed agreed monthly usage otherwise service will be temporarily slowed down until usage falls back in line with fair access policy. Traffic is defined as both downloaded and uploaded data. Traffic does not reset at the end of each four week period. Rather as mentioned above it is monitored on a four week rolling basis. This means that the traffic monitor always totals your traffic usage over the last four weeks.
Table below shows available monthly traffic per package: Package Tooway Value Tooway Plus Tooway Extra Tooway Pro Available Traffic per month 2.4GB 4GB 6GB 12GB
The four different service packages have been tailored to fit the varying requirements of home and business users, offering downlink speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, Uplink speeds are available at up to 384 Kbps.
In addition in order to ensure equal and equitable access to the satellite network and to protect against network usage spikes the Tooway fair access policy also sets out agreed traffic usage limitations per hour, per 4 hour, per day and per week. These are shown in table below:

50% Traffic Discount
As traditionally the satellite network is less busy during night time hours, overnight usage volumes are discounted by 50% during Off Peak hours to reward use of the satellite network at times of traditional low usage.
Off Peak Hours are currently defined as between the hours of 10pm to 6am GMT / UT.
Online traffic monitoring portal coming soon
Digiweb are currently working towards developing an online portal whereby users can monitor their traffic usage on a daily basis. Until this is in place should users require any information regarding their current traffic usage or fair access policy standing they should email support@digiweb.ie . Digiweb Support will be happy to provide a graphical analysis of the traffic usage over past month.
